Code of Conduct , Student / Parent Responsiblity

Participation at Armory Youth Project’s facilities and in AYP Programs and Events is subject to the observance of AYP expectations, rules and procedures. Any student, volunteer or visitor who violates this code is subject to discipline, up to and including removal from regular programming.


At Armory Youth Project: The mental, emotional and physical safety and well-being of our youth is our main priority.




The following POSITIVE EXPECTATIONS are required by all students, staff, volunteers and visitors of the Armory Youth Project. 

BE KIND
 -
Use positive and polite words and actions.
 - Show respect for ourselves, all others and our environment. 
 -
Be open minded to others' ideas, perspectives, cultures and beliefs.
BE HELPFUL
- Listen to instructions & pay attention.
- If you see something, say something.
- Clean up after yourself & help pick up. 
BE SAFE
- Stay in your personal space and out of others.
- Refrain from any physical or verbal violence. 
- Do not possess anything dangerous including materials, alcohol or drugs.  

These expectations and following rules are enforced at Armory Youth Project:
                                         

· Listen to and respect staff and volunteers. 
· Profanity of any kind will not be tolerated. 
· No taking of others' personal belongings.
· Food must stay in lounge or on stage.
- Shirts must remain on at all times. Use the restroom for changing only.
- No bullying, taking unfair advantage, rudeness or harassment of anyone at any time.
- Do not take photos of others without permission.
· No violence or threatened violence toward anyone.
· No inappropriate behavior. 
· Possession, use of or being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs 
· Possession, use of or being under the influence of tobacco products or vapes 
· Possession of dangerous materials such as explosives, firearms, knives, weapons of any kind                                                                                                               


The following consequence guidelines are enforced at Armory Youth Project:   
THIS IS ONLY A GUIDELINE. DEPENDING ON THE SEVERITY OF THE OFFENSE, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THE CONSEQUENCE.
                                    

One verbal warning per day per student.
-Student will be coached. The information is documented and communicated to staff and volunteers.

If student continues to not meet AYP expectations. 
-1st Offense  - Student is coached and asked to leave for the day and the parent is called. 
-2nd Offense - Student is coached and suspended from the AYP for a week. Parent is called.
-3rd Offense - Student must come in with parent to make a plan on when and how to return to the Armory.  

 
Student/ Parent Responsibility

Parents are responsible for their student at all times. Parents must coordinate pick up and drop off. Dial A Ride is available at no cost to the student with prior arrangements within their service hours.  Students must be picked up by AYP closing time. See hours for details. 
Parents may coordinate pick-up restrictions with AYP and student daily as needed. Students must have prior permission to walk home.  Students are required to check in and check out daily. AYP is a single-entry program. Once signed out students are not allowed back in without prior approval.  AYP does not have the resources to physically prevent youth from leaving. Parents must set expectations with student. Parents will be contacted with any concerns.
AYP is not responsible for students once they have signed out of AYP.  

Personal Belongings


Youth are responsible for personal items. Personal cubbies are provided with camera surveillance. AYP is not responsible for any lost or stolen items and will not replace them.

Activity Participation Agreement and Release of Liability

I acknowledge that participation in activities, events, or programs involves risk to the participant (and to the participant's parents or guardians, if the participant is a minor), and may result
in various types of injuries including, but not limited to, the following: sickness, exposure to infectious/communicable disease, bodily injury, death, emotional injury, personal injury, property damage, and financial damage.

In consideration of the opportunity to participate in AYP activities, events, or programs, the participant (or parent/guardian) acknowledges and accepts the risks of injury associated with participation. The participant (or parent/guardian) accepts personal financial responsibility for any injury or other loss sustained during AYP participation, as well as for any medical treatment rendered to the participant that is authorized by the Armory Youth Project or its agents, employees, volunteers, or any other representatives (collectively referred to as the "activity sponsor"). Further, the participant (or parent/guardian) releases and promises to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the activity sponsor for any injury arising directly or indirectly outside the described activity, whether such injury arises out of the negligence of the activity sponsor, the participant or otherwise.

If a dispute over this agreement or any claim for damages arises, the participant (or parent/guardian) agrees to resolve the matter through a mutually acceptable alternative dispute resolution process. If the participant (or parent/guardian) and the activity sponsor cannot agree upon such a process, the dispute will be submitted to a three-member arbitration panel for resolution in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.

Photo Release:
If you participate in the Armory Youth Project programs and events there is a possibility you will be photographed and/or filmed. Your picture and or video may be used for promotional purposes.
